RoHS is the Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment for short. Member States shall ensure that, from 1 July, 2006, new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market does not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls(PBB) or polybrominated dipheny1 ethers (PBDE). National measures restricting or prohibiting the use of these substances in electrical and electronic equipment which were adopted in line with Community legislation before the adoption of this Directive may be maintained until 1 July, 2006.
Restriction of containing: Cd less than 0.01%,Pb、Cr6+、Hg、PBB、PBDE less than 0.1%.
The RoHS Directive shall apply to electrical and electronic equipment falling under the categories 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 10 set out in Annex IA to Directive No 2002/96/EC (WEEE) and to electric light bulbs, and luminaries in households.
